Invitation: Exclusive Copenhagen communal lunch

Time: Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 12:00 PM - Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2:00 PM

Dear train traveller,

As a heartfelt thank you for travelling to Copenhagen by train, Copenhagen’s official tourism board, Wonderful Copenhagen, would like to invite you to an exclusive lunch event on 28 June.

We are very excited that you have chosen Copenhagen as your destination, and we look forward to welcoming you. As you may know, we have  kicked off our 2nd year of CopenPay. CopenPay is an initiative aimed at encouraging and rewarding conscious behavior among travelers and locals. Since its launch last year, the initiative has tripled in size and now includes more than 100 partners across the city. We also have a strong focus on train travel, which is why we want to reward you for your action.

THE LUNCH

We have teamed up with the Danish non-profit organization JunkFood to create a one-of-a-kind communal lunch for up to 200 lucky guests (visitors and locals) who have chosen conscious actions such as travelling by train or taking public transportation.

You’ll be served delicious food made from surplus ingredients but with a touch of Michelin, while hearing the “world’s best chef”, Rasmus Munk, talk about the journey of establishing the project.

Rasmus Munk is the founder of Michelin-starred restaurant Alchemist, and you will also be served treats from the Alchemist food-innovation center SPORA.

JUNKFOOD

JunkFood was founded in 2020 by the Danish businessman Lars Seier Christensen and Rasmus Munk. The organization is dedicated to cooking and distributing daily nutritious meals from mainly surplus food to homeless and socially vulnerable people all over Denmark. Every day, 365 days a year, JunkFood prepares warm meals for more than 600 people in shelters and drop-in centers across the country. Today, the organisation also provides employment opportunities for young individuals who have experienced homelessness or addiction, helping them reintegrate into the Danish workforce and society.

As part of the event you will also meet former homeless individuals who are now a part of the JunkFood family just as you will be able to have a tour of the JunkFood Kitchen.
