Experience the Story of Ovartaci
– the person, the artist, and the patient
Join one of the museum’s knowledgeable guides as they open the door to the story of the extraordinary artist Ovartaci.
Through selected works and objects in the museum’s permanent exhibitions, the story of Louis Marcussen unfolds – the painter who became a patient, and found his own voice and identity as Ovartaci through art.
The guided tour offers both a moving and thought-provoking insight into life at the Psychiatric Hospital in Risskov, as well as into the ideas that shaped its establishment in the mid-19th century – as the first institution of its kind outside the capital.
The tour lasts approximately one hour. We recommend setting aside extra time to explore the exhibition on your own afterwards.
